Bricklaying
Instructions
The
Mediterranean collection is a face-brick that is colored
permanently after it is constructed. Brickwork is laid
as light colored face-brickwork with full flushed joint
and bushed cleaned. The coloring process does not cover
up untidy brickwork.

is constructed using the Austral Mediterranean collection
bricks ONLY |

|
Leave
all faulty dirty, cracked or heavily chipped bricks
including bald bricks (no sand on brick face) |
 |
|
Blend
bricks from 3-4 packs |
 |
|
Clean
new brickwork as you go (dry brush down) |
Mortar Joints
 |
|
Brickwork

Lay
dirty or faulty bricks in the wall. |
 |
|
Bag
the brickwork |
 |
|
Use
natural or grey cements in the mortar. |
 |
|
Use
colored or dark sands in the mortar. |
 |
|
Use
a pressure washer or brick cleaner to clean down
the brickwork after laying. |
 |
|
Do
not wash out mortar spillage through weep holes
and let dry on the wall. |
 |

| Unacceptable
brickwork with bagged and dirty bricks laid throughout
the walls. |
Construction
Schedule Colorbrik
application is to be scheduled on sites as for any other
trade (applied finish) contractor.
 |

Ensure
roof is on and tiled. |
 |
|
Ensure
safety railing for roof access is left in place
for high work. |
 |
|
Ensure scaffolding is left in place for Colorbrik
application access to high work. |
 |
|
Call
02 97691144 to schedule work as
early as possible. |
 |
|
Ensure
all brickwork repairs and mortar repairs have been
completed 3 days before scheduled application . |
 |
|
Use
off-white mortar of the same mix as original brickwork
for mortar repointing. |
 |
|
Ensure
clear instructions regarding feature work and colors
are provided to Colorbrik 7 days prior to application.
|
 |
|
Remove
tannin stains on brickwork left by timbers, trusses,
frames etc... |
 |
|
Call
Colorbrik to advise them if brickwork has been left
wet by recent rainfall. |
 |
|
Schedule
Colorbrik application to coincide with other trades
requiring access to the external brickwork and surrounds
eg: landscapers, painters etc... |
 |
|
Schedule
Colorbrik application prior to completion of all repairs
and modifications to face brickwork. Failure to
do this will attract a call-back charge. |
 |
|
Remove
safety rail for roof access to face brickwork until
Colorbrik application is completed. |
 |
|
Remove
scaffolding from high face brickwork until Colorbrik
application is completed. |
 |
|
Paint
the eave’s prior to Colorbrik application. |
 |
|
Allow
other trades to soil or discolor finished face
brickwork prior to Colorbrik application. |
For
Example:
- Tradesmen
wiping boots on bricks
- Painters
washing out paint or dribbling paint on brickwork.
- Landscapers
or plumbers pushing mud and clay up against brickwork.
- Stenciled
concrete instillation saw cuts and oxide over spray
onto brickwork etc…
